Georgian PM, European Investment Bank Vice President discuss expanding cooperation

Expansion of cooperation between Georgia and the European Investment Bank was discussed on Thursday by the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Teresa Czerwińska, the Vice President of the institution.

The parties noted the importance of EIB's support for the promotion of the country's development, especially in large infrastructure projects and the transport sector, the Government Administration said.

The Georgian PM thanked the EIB Vice President for the assistance provided to the country in the implementation of “strategic projects”.

On her part, Czerwińska expressed readiness for the EIB, as a financial institution of the European Union, to continue supporting Georgia in “various directions”.

The meeting also highlighted “positive indicators” of Georgia's economic growth.

Since the beginning of operations in Georgia, the EIB has invested €1.6 billion in projects in the country, the Administration said.
